S01E10 - Eastern Turkey: The forgotten highlands of Asia Minor
Country

Test

The Zeugma is probably the best Mosaic Museum in the world, with works of great mastery unearthed from the Zeugma’s ancient settlements, a 2'000 years old Mesopotamian city. We drive through the Turkish Kurdistan, close to the Syrian border, and climb to the inspiring mount Nemrut Dagi, a royal tumb from the 1st century BC on top of a mountain with statues from various Greek, Armenian, and Persian Gods.

In Ani, a ruined medieval city just opposite the closed border with Armenia, we find not only the very first traces of the Silk Road, but also many religious buildings, palaces, and fortifications from one of the world's largest cities of the past.
