This natural gas fire burns continuously with flames projecting to a height of three metres. Said to have been accidentally lit in the 1950s by a shepherd, the gas steadily permeates out from the thin and porous sandstone. The flames are the most impressive at dusk and are best viewed from nearby tea shops.
